Triple Core Covered Yarn Double core Spun Yarn Uses in Denim

Denim is widely accepted as a fashion trend with high potential uses, and the denim manufacturing sector must continue to improve fabric performance to meet consumer demand for flexibility, conformability, low abrasion and consistent wear comfort during use. A large number of Core Spun Yarn Uses in Denim.

Double core Spun Yarn

In this paper, we discuss the tensile properties of dual core spun yarn and triple core spun yarn and core spun bamboo yarn. Seven types of core spun yarns and three types of core spun bamboo yarns, all with 36 tex yarn number, were spun on a modified ring spinning spinning machine using cotton as the outer covering fiber and spandex filament and PBT filament as the core yarn. The results showed that the core yarn type had a significant effect on the breaking strength and elongation at break of the core yarn;

Within the design range of core yarn pre-drawing multiplier, the breaking strength of core yarn increases with its increase, and the breaking elongation is the opposite; the breaking strength and breaking elongation of three-core core yarn are higher than that of dual core spun yarn, and the strong elongation performance of bamboo elastic core yarn is better than that of dual core and three-core core yarn. The strong and elongated properties of the spun dual core, triple core core yarn and core covered bamboo yarn are more suitable for the production and use of denim.

Why choose corespun yarns for denim garments?

After a long time or repeated stress on denim garments, dimensional instability or insufficient recovery can lead to deformation of certain parts of the garment (knees, elbows), which is an undesirable appearance. Therefore, in order to improve the physical movement comfort of garments, elastic core yarn can be used to achieve elasticity in woven and knitted fabrics.

With the introduction of dual core spun yarn, three-core core yarn, and elastic core wrapped bamboo yarn, it also makes the above problems of traditional denim fabric solved and its denim apparel has good elasticity and can be suitable for different people, which has become a hot selling point for denim production enterprises. The denim fabric woven with elastic core yarn is soft and comfortable, non-binding, moisture-absorbing and breathable; the denim fabric woven with bamboo yarn not only retains the style of traditional denim, but also makes the fabric surface show the “irregular” distribution of bamboo knots, and has the unique style of “drizzle, rain-like The unique style of “rain dots and rain lines” [.

Therefore, in this study, not only double-core yarn, but also three-core core yarn and core bamboo yarn were spun. Core spun yarn combines the advantages of core yarn and outer covering fiber. the choice of core yarn will have an effect on the yarn formation properties of core spun yarn, and the outer covering fiber will provide different styles of surface properties. the core yarn of dual core spun yarn uses two filaments, which are then covered by a short fiber outer covering.

The use of polyester DTY filament, PBT filament, nylon filament and spandex filament as core yarn to produce corespun yarn and double corespun yarn has been investigated [. Most of the core yarns of common double core elastic corespun yarns were selected from spandex filaments with T400 filaments. In this study, one or both of spandex filament and PBT filament were chosen as core yarn. Spandex filament has good elasticity and PBT filament has good dimensional stability and better elasticity, but its elasticity is inferior to that of spandex filament.

Cotton is used as the outer covering fiber with comfort and aesthetic properties. By spinning seven types of corespun yarns with all 36 tex yarn number on a modified ring spinning spinning machine, and combining corespun yarns with bamboo yarn process, three types of corespun bamboo yarns were spun. By testing the tensile properties of the core spun yarn, the effects of the filament content, core yarn draft and core yarn size on the breaking strength and breaking elongation of the core spun yarn were investigated.

How to Make Core Spun Yarn ?

The core spun yarn is spun on a modified ring spinning machine, i.e., a core yarn feeding mechanism and a pre-drafting mechanism are added to the bottom row of the roving frame.

The core yarn is fed through the flare on the cross-motion device and is drawn through the drafting mechanism. The core yarn is led out without the drafting device and is directly led into the back side of the front roller and merged with the drafted outer staple fiber strip, which is twisted and wound by the guiding hook and the program and wire loop to form the core yarn.

When spinning dual core spun yarn, the core yarn (spandex filament) with large pre-drawing times is introduced by the guide roller, while the core yarn (PBT filament) with small pre-drawing times is introduced by the guide rod on the roving frame, which can be used to generate friction between the core yarn and the guide rod to form the core yarn tension. When spinning three-core corespun yarn, the core yarn of the same material is first processed into a tube by the merging machine, so as to ensure uniform tension between core yarns, and then merged with the core yarn of another material. When spinning core-spun bamboo yarn, the bamboo yarn device is installed on the modified ring spinning spinning machine, and while stabilizing the front roller, the rotational speed of the middle and rear rollers is changed, i.e. bamboo knots are formed.

Selection of test parameters

Using the same amount of cotton roving, spinning out into the yarn number are 36tex of dual core spun yarn, three core core yarn and core bamboo yarn. The spun yarn is produced on a BS51 spinning machine with a JC-SF bamboo yarn unit.

Core yarn selection

The core yarn was selected from 55.5 dtex non-twisted elastic polyester filament yarn and 44.4 dtex spandex filament yarn. The spandex filament has good elasticity and the polyester filament can increase the strength of the finished yarn during the spinning process.

Twist factor of corespun yarn

When other conditions are maintained, the twist factor increases to a critical value, the filament strength decreases and the corespun yarn strength increases and then decreases. Therefore, the twist factor of core yarn should be low. 313 is chosen for dual core spun yarn and 420 for triple core yarn.

Core yarn tension

The core yarn tension is determined by the pre-drawing multiplier. Proper tension control and the use of the wire guide are helpful to keep the core yarn in the center of the yarn and not to move, thus improving the quality of the core yarn, but too much tension will make the wrapping fastness of the outer fibers insufficient, resulting in a decrease in the wrapping rate of the yarn. Therefore, in the spinning process, it is necessary to choose the appropriate core filament tension, which can improve both the strong stretch performance of the yarn and the overall covering effect of the yarn.

Core filament pre-drawing times

In the spinning process, the pre-drawing multiplier of the core yarn directly affects the stability of the yarn quality. When the pre-draft multiplier is too low, the good elasticity of the spandex filament cannot be given full play; when it is too high, it is easy to make the yarn break, which increases the difficulty of spinning and decreases the quality of the product. Therefore, the pre-drafting times must be controlled within a certain range. In addition, the content of spandex filament is inversely proportional to the pre-drawing times. In this study, the pre-drawing multiplier of spandex filament is designed to be 1.05 times and 2.8 times, and the pre-drawing multiplier of PBT filament is designed to be 1.05 times and 1.10 times.

Selection of bamboo knot parameters

Three types of cored bamboo yarns were designed in the experiment. All three types of bamboo yarns were structured with four bamboo knots as one cycle, and the bamboo knot parameters of bamboo knot yarns were 70 mm, 80 mm, 75 mm and 60 mm in knot length, 120 mm, 145 mm, 160 mm and 145 mm in knot pitch, and 1.9 in knot multiplicity.

Test species

According to the different types of core yarns, pre-drawing times and twist coefficients, seven types of elastic core yarns (sample 1 to sample 7) and three types of cored bamboo yarns (sample 8 to sample 10) with pure cotton outer fibers were spun in this study.

Test method

According to GB/T 3916-2013 “Determination of breaking strength and elongation at break of single yarn (CRE method) for textile rolled yarn”, the yarn was first equilibrated at temperature (20±2)℃ and relative humidity (65%±3%) for 24 h. The test was carried out with YG020 single yarn strength machine, setting the preload tension at 0.1 cN/tex The average value was obtained by setting the preload tension at 0.1 cN/tex, the stretching speed at 500 mm/min and the distance between upper and lower clamping at 500 mm.

What is the effect of core yarn rate on the tensile properties of core yarn?

The results of the tensile properties of seven types of elastic corespun yarns are shown in Table 2.

The twist factor and pre-drawing multiplier of specimen 1, specimen 2 and specimen 3 are 313 and 1.05 times, the twist factor and pre-drawing multiplier of specimen 4 and specimen 5 are 313 and 2.8 times, and the twist factor and pre-drawing multiplier of specimen 6 and specimen 7 are 420 and 2.8 times.

The test results show that when the twist factor is 313 and the pre-drawing multiplier remains unchanged, the breaking strength of core yarn gradually increases and the breaking elongation gradually decreases with the decrease of the filament content, because with the decrease of the core filament content, the strength of the core yarn is more the strength of the outer staple fiber, which leads to the increase of the breaking strength of the finished yarn, and the breaking elongation of the elastic yarn is mainly the breaking elongation of the outer staple fiber yarn, which leads to the decrease of the breaking elongation of the finished yarn. When the twist factor is 420, the increase of filament content increases the yarn breaking strength and the breaking elongation. It can be concluded that as the twist factor increases, the cohesion between the fibers increases and the integrity of the yarn increases, so that the strong and elongation properties of the yarn increase with the increase of the filament content.

What is the effect of core yarn pre-drafting on the tensile properties of core yarn?

The test results of the tensile properties of yarns spun from different spandex pre-drafting multiples are shown in Table 3. In the case of the same core yarn and twist factor, specimen 1 and specimen 4, specimen 2 and specimen 5 with different pre-drafting multiples were selected for comparison. From the test results, it can be seen that the breaking strength of core yarn increases and the elongation at break decreases as the pre-drafting multiple of spandex increases. The higher pre-drawing multiplier may lead to an increase in cohesion between the elastic fibers, filaments and outer fibers, which can overcome the larger stresses during core yarn deformation and provide the yarn strength.

In addition, as the pre-drafting multiplier increases and the spandex filament content decreases, the strong force of the elastic yarn is mainly that of the outsourcing fibers and the breaking strength increases. At the same time, the structure of the yarn changes so that the filament becomes straightened and the elongation at break of the elastic yarn is expressed as the elongation at break of the staple fiber yarn, and the elongation is reduced.

What is the effect of core yarn specification on the tensile properties of corespun yarns?

The results of the tensile and tensile properties of core-spun yarn and core-spun bamboo yarn under different specifications are shown in Table 4. Among them, specimen 5 and specimen 10 are dual core spun yarn, and specimen 6 and specimen 9 are three-core covered yarn. Under the condition that the pre-drawing times of core yarn and core yarn types are the same, specimen 5 and specimen 6, and specimen 9 and specimen 10 are compared respectively.

From the test results, it can be seen that the breaking strength and breaking elongation of dual core spun yarn and triple core spun yarn are different; the breaking strength and breaking elongation of triple core spun yarn are greater than those of dual core spun yarn.

Since the triple core is made by processing two filaments into strands through a parallel twisting machine and then merging them with another filament, under the same conditions, the core yarn can bear more load when the triple core yarn is deformed, and the stronger strength provided to the finished yarn is greater, so its breaking strength is greater.

In addition, the core yarn of three-core corespun yarn holds each other more closely, which makes its wrapping effect with the outer staple yarn enhanced, and therefore, the elongation at break of the finished yarn is also larger.

Comparison of the tensile properties of ordinary core-spun yarn and core-spun bamboo yarn

The results of the tensile properties of ordinary core-spun yarn and core-spun bamboo yarn are shown in Table 5. With the core yarn type, twist factor and core yarn pre-drawing multiplier remaining basically the same, specimen 3 was compared with specimen 10 and specimen 6 with specimen 8. From the test results, it can be seen that the breaking strength and elongation at break of the cored bamboo yarn are slightly larger compared to the cored yarn. It shows that compared with corespun yarn, corespun bamboo yarn has good elasticity and high yarn strength, which can better meet the requirements of elastic fabric.

Conclusion

Modern consumers expect good comfort and appearance from their attire, and denim type garments provide the comfort needed for sports. The use of corespun yarns in the textile industry is continuously improving the performance of fabrics, such as comfort, abrasion resistance, and flexibility. In this study, the strong and tensile properties of double/three-core corespun yarns and double/three-core corespun bamboo yarns and the factors affecting them were analyzed.

The test results showed that the relationship between the strong and tensile properties of core-spun yarn and core-spun bamboo yarn was dual core spun yarn < three-core core-spun yarn < core-spun bamboo yarn, and the strong and tensile properties of the yarn were changed by changing the filament content and the pre-drawing times of core-spun yarn to make the yarn reach the optimal performance. Thus, by using dual/three core spun yarn and core spun bamboo yarn to spin stretch denim, the demand for elasticity and durability of clothes can be satisfied at the same time, and the mechanical properties of denim can be improved while retaining the good softness and handfeel of cotton.
