What is the principle of fancy yarn?
Different types of fancy yarns are generally divided into two main categories:
The first category is fancy yarns, which are mainly characterized by irregular shape and yarn structure, such as yarn cross-section with irregular geometry, yarn structure such as twist, twist direction and twist combination changes, etc. The common ones are bamboo yarns, knotted yarns, snowflake yarns, bead ring yarns, etc;

Structure of fancy yarns
Fancy yarn generally consists of three yarns, namely core yarn, solid yarn and decorative yarn. Trim yarn can be produced by using sliver or roving by the same drafting but different overfeed (such as loop yarn, etc.) or by different drafting (bamboo yarn, etc.), or by using filament yarn, by different overfeed (such as knot yarn, etc.).
Sometimes, two roving yarns of different colors can be produced with different draws and different overfeeds to produce fancy yarns with not only different thicknesses but also different colors.
The formation of fancy yarn depends on the cooperation of 3 yarns. By controlling the parameters such as overfeed ratio, draft, core tension and twist, different patterns can be obtained and these parameters have to be controlled comprehensively to obtain good fancy yarns.
Overfeed ratio
Overfeed ratio = trim speed/core yarn speed = front roller speed/output roller speed
The overfeed ratio can be constant, the trim speed is constant to the core yarn speed with fancy pattern, or it can be variable overfeed, so that the fancy pattern can be changed continuously.
Drawing multiplier
Drafting multiplier = front roller speed / back roller speed = yarn trim feeding yield x overfeed ratio / weight of trim yarn in output yarn
The draft multiplier can be constant or variable to produce different patterns.
Core yarn tension
The tension of the core yarn is adjusted by the tensioner or the roller, which directly influences the quality of the finished yarn and the stability of the pattern. If the tension is too small, the core yarn will not be stable in the center position and the quality will be affected.
Twist of fancy yarn
The twist of fancy yarn, for the tube winding model, generally refers to the wrapping number of solid yarn to core yarn per unit length, i.e. hollow spindle speed/output roller speed.
The size of the wrapping number is directly related to the feel, appearance and fancy effect of the fancy yarn. For ring winding machines, in addition to the number of wraps, there is also the twist added to the ring spindle. The purpose of the twist is to balance the imbalance caused by the wrapping, so the parameter must be set in conjunction with the degree of wrapping and other yarn parameters.
Different types of fancy yarns
Fancy yarn can be divided into overfeed fancy yarn, control fancy yarn and special fancy yarn according to the production method.
Overfeed fancy yarn means that the speed of decorated yarn is greater than the speed of core yarn, where the overfeed number is equal to the speed of decorated yarn divided by the speed of core yarn, characterized by a constant ratio of the speed of each roller;
Controlled fancy yarn is formed by the variable speed of each roller according to the requirements of pattern design; special fancy yarn is made by special production equipment.
Fancy yarn can be divided into two categories: fiber type and yarn type according to the feeding state of the trim yarn:
Fiber type fancy yarn is made of roving as trim yarn, which needs to be drawn by rollers in the process of feeding and forming;
The yarn type fancy yarn is made of fine yarn as trim yarn, which does not need to be drawn by rollers during the feeding process.
Principle of fancy yarn
Principle of fancy yarn: core yarn is transported by core yarn roller and enters the hollow spindle by guide yarn roller; trim yarn enters the hollow spindle after drawing mechanism, and the feeding speed of trim yarn (usually overfeed) is constantly changing; solid yarn is led from the hollow spindle tube and enters the hollow spindle together.
Before the twisting hook, the core yarn and trim yarn rotate with the hollow spindle and get false twist, while the solid yarn is parallel to the core yarn and trim yarn but does not get false twist because it recedes from the hollow spindle. After passing the twisting hook, the false twist of core yarn and trim yarn disappears, and the solid yarn wraps around the core yarn and trim yarn, fixing the flower shape formed by the change of trim yarn overfeed, and forming a fancy yarn. The core yarn needs to have a certain tension, the decorative yarn needs to be overfed, and the solid yarn must be wrapped. During the whole spinning process, the drafting, pattern formation and winding process are completed at one time.
